We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Manufacturing Cost Analyst to join our growing team.

This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Janicki Industries is looking for a Manufacturing Cost Analyst to join our Finance and Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will support our Accounting and Finance team as well as our Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve management of production costs.  It will require developing a deep understanding of our planning and manufacturing processes and accounting system, making sense of the immense amount of data in our SAP system, and identifying areas for improvement. 

The ideal candidate possess a mix of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills, as the role involves detailed financial analysis and communication with multiple stakeholders.

The following essential job functions are performed as an Manufacturing Cost Analyst:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of production costs, including direct materials, labor, and overheads, to ensure accuracy and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Build expertise in our Production Planning module in SAP to ensure accurate planning, cost collection, and variance analysis
  • Perform material costing runs to validate standard costs on semi-finished and finished goods
  • Prepare and maintain cost data for multi-level Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings in SAP, which includes material, labor and overhead
  • Oversee fixed asset management, depreciation schedules, and cost allocations
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, including cost center and profit center structures
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting reconciliations during month-end and year-end close
  • Identify areas for process improvement within finance and manufacturing operations and recommend strategies to enhance efficiency
  • Analyze cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and propose corrective measures to align with budgeted targets
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on manufacturing costs to support informed decision-making by senior management
  • Responsible for inventory management and control, financial and cost analysis including reviewing monthly inventory adjustments & cycle count reports for large variances, updating material, labor and overhead standard costs annually and manufacturing standard costs, product bill of materials
  • Prepare reports on excess and obsolete inventory on a quarterly basis and analyze the data for accuracy
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, especially around SAP design, inventory controls, and fixed asset management
  • Assist with audits and provide required documentation to external auditors
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3+ years of proven work experience in accounting or related field. Experience in a Manufacturing setting strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting
  • Project professionalism in all communications
  • Strong work ethic and financial aptitude
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, abilities, and skills to succeed in a teamwork environment
  • Proficiency in clearly communicating information about finances and accounting issues to non-accountants and individuals with varying levels of financial expertise
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $110,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
