, ,Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for an Environmental Specialist to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring that facilities and operations are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations. This position will work with the EHS team, Facilities Manager, and key personnel in production work areas. The Environmental Specialist conducts routine inspections and implements necessary corrective actions which may include; writing environmental/safety procedures, employee training, and documentation of containment efforts. This position will also provide support for health and safety issues.
The following essential job functions are performed as Environmental Specialist:
- Manages environmental impacts relating to water quality, air quality, and waste
- Develops, maintains, and implements procedures in the Janicki Environmental Management System and Safety Manual
- Collects and maintains data on spills, accidents, waste, and air emissions
- Keeps record of hazardous materials and prepares air emission reports
- Verifies safety and environmental compliance through routine site inspections and maintains record of inspections including any associated corrective actions
- Monitors waste streams and coordinates storage, designation, and disposal of Dangerous Waste. Initiates and monitors waste reduction programs.
- Keeps up to date on regulatory changes and researches new technology
- Responsible for obtaining new environmental permits and prepares permit application documents, such as NOI, NOC, SEPA, and JARPA.
- Develops and implements training plans. Trains employees in EHS subjects.
- Assures compliance with air quality and NPDES storm water permits
- Samples storm water discharges, coordinates lab analysis, and submits quarterly Discharge Monitoring Reports
- Prepares regulatory reports and documents as required by EPCRA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, NDPES, Dangerous Waste regulations, and other environmental permits
- Maintains all required documents and records
- Manages Hazard Communication Program by maintaining Safety Data Sheets and keeping employees informed of workplace hazards.
- Perform air sampling, and industrial hygiene testing as needed
- Maintains contingency plan and coordinates efforts to clean up spills
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other related filed, OR: Associate’s degree plus 2 years of experience working in an environmental field, OR: 4 years of relevant work experience in environmental field
- Candidate should demonstrate basic knowledge of environmental processes
- Demonstrate problem solving skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of company personnel
- Must have good computer skills and experience creating Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Experience with Outlook, PowerPoint, and SAP is a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Salary range for this role is between $80,000 - $90,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
